L is for Lion and we’d be LION if we said we didn’t LOVE this craft! This is such an incredible activity to get out of the house and exploring this spring. Another great activity for all ages and the whole family!
The best time to do this is early spring when you just start to spot dandelions. Head out on a walk with the kids (and maybe even the dog!) and tell them you’re going on a Lion Hunt- a dandeLION hunt! Putting this fun twist on picking flowers will have your kids asking for more. Don’t take our word for it. Give it a go and let us know what you think!
Supplies Needed:
- Dandelions
- Scissors
- Cardboard
- Black marker
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Glue
Directions:
Take a walk and explore- pick dandelions along the way.
Once you get back home, cut out a circle shape from cardboard.
Next, you’ll draw your lion’s face. Add googly eyes if you have them at this point!
Pick or cut the stems from your dandelions.
Lastly, add the glue around the edge of the cardboard circle and press on the flowers!
And there you have it- the cutest little lion! Check out ours here!
As always, activities like this are wonderful opportunities for learning and development! Here are some ideas for how to take the learning to the next level:
- Talk about what you see as you walk- try discussing and experiencing all 5 senses
- Play the alphabet game- name things you see that start with certain letters of the alphabet
- Find things that are certain colors- you could even collect the items along the walk
