The most fun Bubble Painting Art Craft for Kids

This is a super fun and unique bubble activity for kids! They will use straws to blow bubbles (like they want do at restaurants!) but this time — with paint to create a bubble painting art piece for to hang up in their room or playroom.

We totally recommend this as an outdoor activity, but it can be done indoors.

Just make sure it’s done on a surface that is easy to clean or you put down a protective barrier.

There are plenty of variations on this project.

We’ve done it a few different ways, but our favorite is to make canvases with initials- art for the kids’ room. That way, its a piece that can last as a keepsake decoration in a play room or child’s bedroom.

What you need:

  • bubble solution
  • food coloring
  • re-usable straws
  • masking tape
  • canvas

How to make it:

  • Step 1: Add food coloring to the bubble solution (play around with the ratio to make sure that the colors pop) You can also make your own bubble solution see note at bottom to the page.
  • Step 2: Add masking tape to the canvas, we did our initials. You can make shapes or designs like stripes or polka dots!
  • Step 3: Dip the straw in the bubble solution & blow bubbles on the canvas!
  • Step 4: Have fun! It might get messy with drips and bubble popping, but that’s all part of the creative process!
  • Step 5: Let it dry and remove the masking tape to unveil the design!

Our favorite parts were definitely where you could tell a bigger bubble went “POP”!

Things to note/variations:

  • The bubbles will mostly pop as soon as they hit the canvas, but it makes for some really cool art!
  • Chat with your littles about where to blow the bubbles and not to drink any up!
  • You can do this on some cardstock and then cut into shapes or cards after it has dried.
  • Skip the paper all together and use this in place of sidewalk chalk for some cool bubbly art! It’ll last through a lot more weather than chalk too!

Instructions for making your own bubble solution:

  • Mix 6 cups hot water with 2 cups clear dish soap. Stir well. Add 3/4 cup of corn syrup to the soapy water. Stir well. *let the water cool a bit to a safe temp for the kids!
  • Separate the mixture into cups and proceed with the directions above.
